We are the Bridgend Meditation & Dharma Group group established and run by David (Dorje Nyurda) Rees who was formerly an active member of the Awakened Heart Sangha before deciding to establish a local group.
The AHS is an international Sangha made up of students of Lama Shenpen Hookham, their principal teacher and founder, who has over 50 years experience in the meditation practices of the Kagyu/Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism.
Lama Shenpen has developed the Living the Awakened Heart Training, a comprehensive distance learning course in Buddhist meditation, reflection and insight, designed especially for Westerners. Through the training students discover profound teachings experientially, through meditation practice with one to one guidance from a mentor within the Awakened Heart Sangha. Find out more details about the training HERE.
The Bridgend Meditation & Dharma group is led by David (Dorje) Rees, who was a senior student of Lama Shenpen Hookham for almost 15 years before deciding to devote his time and energy to setting up and developing the Bridgend Group. He is an experienced meditator and trained mentor.
The Bridgend Group is an independent group but some of its members have subsequently also become Awakened Heart Sangha members.
Currently we are not offering any introductory or beginners courses and membership of the Bridgend Group is currently no longer available due to the limitations of the venue. This is a fluid situation and may change so use the contact page to enquire about the current situation.
Should you nevertheless like learn Formless Meditation the Awakened Heart Sangha would be a good place to enquire about Heart Of Mediation online courses.
Contact David (Dorje) Rees via the contact page if you’d like more details about the weekly classes and see the ‘News’ and ‘Learn to Meditate’ pages for more information and any upcoming events.
